I’ve been considering getting an automatic sprouter for some time now and I was thrilled to see Tribest’s booth at the Raw Spirit Festival. I was also fortunate to attend Sproutsman Steve’s lecture where he spoke of numerous benefits of sprouting, how easy and cheap it is to get the best nutrition available to use as raw foodists.
I’ve had little luck with “traditional” mason jars method of spouting; oftentimes my sprouts would go all moldy on me or I would forget to rinse them on time and they would dry out. And being a busy business owner I was looking for something to make it automatic for me and save me time and headache along the way.
Luckily, I visited the Tribest’s booth and my life is now changed forever. An automatic sprouter seems to be an answer to my prayers – easy to assemble and easy to use: put filterer water in, add seeds, plug it in, and off you go! In 5-8 days you have a barrel full of sprouts, 5-6 tablespoons of seeds yield up to 1 pounds of sprouts! A 12 o.z. bag of spouted seeds costs about 5-9 dollars so you get a huge amount of super nutritious foods for just pennies a day – and if you are on the budget, this is the best solution for you!
Not only are sprouted vegetables delicious, but they contain 10-50 times more vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes than at any other time during their life cycle. Sprouts are excellent source of nutrients during winter months. Adding sprouts to our daily diet on a regular basis is the best way to make sure we get all the nutrients, vitamins, and enzymes our bodies need to maintain excellent health.
Steve Meyerowtiz, aka Sproutman, is very passionate about the subject of spouts. He started eating sprouts in late 70s and his diet consists mostly of sprouts. When you meet him in person, you can clearly see that Steve is healthy and energetic.
Here are 10 reasons to start sprouting from Sproutman Steve himself:
- ECONOMICS Seeds can multiply 7-15 times their weight. At $4.00/pound, seeds yield 26 cents for a pound of fresh sprouted indoor-grow organic greens!
- NUTRITION Sprouts are baby plants in their prime. They have a greater concentration of protein, vitamins and minerals, enzymes, RNA, DNA, bio-flavinoids, T-cells, etc. than at any other poit in the plant’s life even when compared with the mature vegetable!
- ORGANICS No pesticides, synthetic fertilizer of fumigants. No chemicals. No fooling!
- AVAILABILITY From Florida to Alaska; in January or July, enjoy live food anytime, anywhere, even on a boat or when hiking a mountain trail.
- SPACE & TIME It’s Easy! Just add water! No soil. No bugs, No green thumb required. No special lights. One pound grows I only 9 inches of space and takes 1 minute to care per day.
- FRESHNESS Eaten when picked. No loss of nutrients sitting in warehouses or grocer’s shelves.
- DIGESTIBILITY As baby plants, their delicate cells walls easily release elemental nutrients. Abundant enzymes make them easy to digest even for those with weak digestion.
- VERSATILITY More varieties of salad greens than on the supermarket shelve. Including buckwheat lettuce, baby sunflower, garlic chives, Chinese cabbage purple turnip, curly kale, golden alfalfa and more? Your salads will literally come alive!
- MENUS & MEALS Make sprout breads from sprouted wheat, rye, or barley. Snacks from sprouted peanuts, hummus dip from sprouted garbanzo, Chinese sautés from mung and lentils, even sprouted wheat pizza!
- ECOLOGY No airplanes or fuel/oil consumed to deliver this food to you. No petroleum based pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.
As I am writing this, my new sprouter is happily humming along on the kitchen table. I cannot wait to have my first batch of full grown spouts, but I feel like this is a new level of my raw food diet. As we approach winter time and having nutritious food is of most importance, I feel like sprouts will make s huge positive difference in how I feel.
So if are you into raw foods and you want to take your health and well-being to a new level, I suggest you bring a good variety of sprouts into your daily diet.
I found the best price for Freshlife’s sprouter at Amazon.com. You can find a wide selection of top quality sprouting seeds and a good selection of Steve’s books at Sproutman’s website.
I appreciate your enthusiasm about sprouting, but I have to say that the Tribest sprouter was a total bust and a major waste of my money. From the start, the sprouter wouldn't work properly, rarely rotating and watering the sprouts properly, no matter how I worked with it. And it requiresd a lot of attention, daily water changes still did not prevent mold.I was surprised, because Tribest is a reputable company.

Sorry to hear about your experience, John, however, I would have called Tribest first to see if maybe your sprouter needed to be replaced. Mine works great, rotating and watering four times an hour. I used an extra barrel and I still get great water pressure. It doesn't require much attention, from my experience, just changing water once a day, which takes about 10 minutes (I used ionized water filter so it takes a little bit to fill up the tank). I tried the jar method before and it was way too time consuming and I used to get mold quite often. Tribest sprouter works for me.
